Matt Carter

Lead Pastor
Austin Stone Community Church

Matt serves as Lead Pastor at Austin Stone Community Church, which has grown from a core team of 15 to over 6000 attending each Sunday since the church began in 2002.

Matt’s desire to see the church become an advocate for the welfare of the city of Austin has led to the creation of a network that exists to actively pursue the redemption and renewal of the city for the advancement of the Gospel. For the City Network provides a platform for organizational collaboration by providing physical space to local non-profits as well as creating a funnel for volunteer engagement.

In addition to pastoring at The Austin Stone, Matt is a cancer survivor, co-author of “For the City” and speaker for camps and conferences nationwide. He is working with NFL quarterback Colt McCoy to co-author an upcoming book on biblical manhood. Matt holds a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Seminary. Matt and his wife, Jennifer, live in Austin with their three children.

Matt spoke at the 2010 RightNow conference (www.RightNow.org) in Dallas, Texas. His teaching is also featured as one of the main session in the RightNow Mission Development Kit: Lead Beyond the Walls.
